The Town of Friday Harbor will mark the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack by hosting a Remembrance Ceremony at Memorial Park.

The ceremony commences at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

The event will begin with a presentation of “colors” by an American Legion Post 163 honor guard detachment, followed by several speakers; Fire Chief Steve Marler, Mayor Carrie Lacher, San Juan Island County Councilman Bob Jarman, Dr. Joe Bettridge, Sheriff’s Department detective Lach Buchanan and dispatch supervisor Robin DeLazerda.

The ceremony concludes with a moment of silence and a bell-ringing ceremony.

The lower block of Spring Street will be closed to traffic during the duration of the ceremony, 8:30 a.m to 10 a.m. Vehicles should be removed in the vicinity of Memorial Park to help provide space: from First to Front Street; Front Street (from Spring to East Street); and from East Street prior to the ceremony.
