Thirty-six-year-old man dies in rollover on Lopez

Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle upside down on the side of the road in the 200 block of Islandale Road Monday, March 30, at about 2:30 p.m. The lone occupant in the vehicle was unconscious and later determined to be dead. An investigation is under way.

A 36-year-old man died Monday, March 30, in a rollover collision on Lopez Island.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle upside down on the side of the road in the 200 block of Islandale Road at about 2:30 p.m.

The man was unconscious when deputies arrived at the scene and later determined to be deceased. He was the sole occupant in the vehicle, according to a San Juan County Sheriff’s Department press release.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fatal crash and the man’s death. The man’s name is being withheld pending identification and notification of the family.

Located at the south end of the island, Islandale Road is the primary road connecting the neighborhoods of Hunter and Mud bays to Mud Bay Road.
