Susan Padgett-Dermody was born in Shelton, Wash., on Jan. 2, 1948. She grew up in Olympia, graduating from Olympia High School in 1966. Educational pursuits took her initially to WSU then to Central Washington, with her first husband, where she graduated with her B.A. in ’70.

In ’75 she had her only child, son Ryan.

In ’86, she remarried, this time to Jack, who remained her joy and rock to the very end.

Her career path took her from branch manager at First Interstate Bank, to teacher, to administrative assistant at Group Health for 13 years.

Most important to Sue was her family. She loved being a mom above all.

Interests included building, nail by nail, the beach house in Friday Harbor with Jack, following Ryan’s football career and education, traveling to Mexico and assorted adventures, then, most recently, discovering her artistic talents and passion for mosaic art.

Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Landers.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; son, Ryan (Paula); father, Glenn; sister, Judy (Mike); and her beloved Chihuahua, Pepita.

Susan died on June 12 at Evergreen Hospice, in Kirkland, after an eight-month battle with metastatic cancer to bone.

She will be missed dearly.
