King County councilman and Washington state attorney general candidate Bob Ferguson will make a campaign stop in Friday Harbor, Sunday.

Ferguson, D-Seattle, is one of three candidates seeking to become the state’s top attorney, a position held by Rob McKenna. He faces former federal prosecutor and fellow King County Councilman Reagan Dunn, R-Maple Valley, son of former congresswoman Jennifer Dunn, and Stephan Pidgeon, R-Everett, an attorney and noted religious rights activist.

McKenna, like his predecessor, Christine Gregoire, is running for governor following two terms as attorney general.

On Sunday, Ferguson will be at Friday Harbor House, 130 West Street, for a reception and meet-and-greet event, 3-4 p.m. The event is coordinated by fellow Democrat and campaign supporter Randy Gaylord, San Juan County’s elected prosecuting attorney.

First elected to the King County Council in 2003, Ferguson, a graduate of New York University School of Law, represents roughly 200,000 constituents in communities ranging from Seattle, Shoreline, Kenmore, Bothell and parts of Woodinville, and in the unincorporated areas of King County.

His list of endorsements include the Washington State Troopers Association, Washington Conservation Voters, Washington Education Association, Washington State Labor Council, AFl-CIO, and U.S. Senator Patty Murray and Gov. Christine Gregoire, according to the Elect Bob Ferguson website.

An avid baseball fan, Ferguson is also an internationally rated chess master and a two-time winner of the Washington State Chess Championship.
