The works of local composer Alex Shapiro will be featured in an Evening Prayer service hosted by Saint David’s Episcopal Church, Saturday, Nov. 16, beginning at 5 p.m.

Shapiro’s collection of songs, entitled “Evensong,” written specifically for an Anglican service, was commissioned by St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Mar Vista, Calif. Each piece is played before or after corresponding prayers or readings in the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer.

The performance features local musicians Dorothy Baker, piano, Pamela Stewart, flute, Sue Collado, clarinet, and Pat Nelson, bassoon.
