This is a construction update from the Town of Friday Harbor on what to expect on Spring Street through the remainder of this week.

Evening work to replace utilities is complete and the contractor has resumed daytime construction. The project is nearing its paving phase. The contractor is preparing the subgrade for new asphalt overlay and is in the process of repairing sidewalks and connecting the water lines from the new main to individual properties.

Sidewalks are open to pedestrians and businesses plan to remain open to the public. Vehicles should plan alternate routes due to limited or no vehicular access (including parking) between Argyle Avenue and Second Street on Spring Street.

Street closure and detour signage will remain in place during this phase of the project. Preparation includes grinding and removal existing asphalt and compaction of the subgrade for new pavement. Every effort will be made to limit closures and keep both lanes of traffic open during evenings and weekends. Paving is currently scheduled to start Monday, April 25.

The town appreciates the continued patience of business owners, residents and visitors. For more information, contact town administrator Duncan Wilson at duncanw@fridayharbor.org or at 378-2810, ext. 226.
