The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Dec. 26

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a possible assault.

• A Friday Harbor deputy issued a driver a citation for no proof of insurance and failing to obey a stop sign, and issued a warning for expired vehicle registration and no registration in the vehicle.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a harassment call at a local business and, after investigating, found the complaint to be civil.

• A credit card found along the road on Lopez was turned over to a deputy until the owner is located.

• A deputy, dispatched to a report of a wanted person in Friday Harbor, took the person into custody on two active San Juan County warrants.

• San Juan deputies who responded to a report of trespassing found that a Domestic Violence-No Contact Order was in place between the parties. The offending party was later arrested and booked into jail on numerous charges.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a prowler outside a residence. No trespasser was found on the property or in the area.

Dec. 27

• An Orcas deputy responded to a vandalism call and found graffiti in the public restrooms at the Village Green. Photographs were taken and, as of yet, there are no suspects.

• Deputies responded to an Eastsound residence on a reported domestic violence dispute and found two roommates had been in a verbal argument. No assaults had occurred and the persons agreed to separate for the time being.

• A deputy on San Juan located a wanted subject. After a brief chase, the subject was taken into custody for order violation, burglary and resisting arrest.

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a possible assault that had recently occurred, and took a report.

Dec. 28

• A deputy responded to a commercial vehicle accident on Orcas. The driver lost control of a tractor trailer into a ditch and, when he tried to correct the vehicle, it slid across the roadway and damaged a fence. No injuries occurred, and the vehicle was recovered.

• A Lopez deputy checked the welfare of a man who was reported to have been in a minor traffic incident.

• The reporting deputy responded to a call about a fraud that occurred in the San Juan Island area. The person provided information about possible computer fraud.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The driver was arrested for Driving with License Suspended-3rd degree and failing to transfer title within 45 days. The driver was also issued a citation for expired registration over two months.

• Orcas Deputies responded to a possible Driving Under the Influence near Eastsound. After an investigation was completed, the driver was arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license.

• In Friday Harbor, a deputy issued a driver a citation for no proof of liability insurance and a defective tail light and a warning for speeding.

• A deputy issued a driver a citation for traveling 39 mph in a 25 mph zone in Friday Harbor.

• An Orcas deputy took a report of threats. The investigation is still ongoing.

• A San Juan Island deputy issued citations to a driver for failing to stop at stop sign and for not having proof of liability insurance. The driver also received warnings for failing to carry vehicle registration in the vehicle, and failing to change address on their license within 15 days.

Dec. 29

• A Lopez Island deputy found a disabled vehicle partially blocking a road. The deputy contacted the owner who was waiting on parts coming on the ferry so he could repair the vehicle and move it from the roadway.

• A deputy on San Juan located and booked a wanted subject on two counts of possession of heroin and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On San Juan, a deputy stopped a vehicle for a broken taillight and arrested the driver for Driving with License Suspended-3rd degree and an ignition interlock violation. The driver also received a citation for not having insurance.

Dec. 30

• A Lopez Island resident picked up two dogs running at-large on the south end and delivered them to the main fire station when there was no deputy at the substation. The dogs were kenneled until the owner could claim them.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The driver was arrested for Driving with License Suspended-3rd degree, and issued citations for not having insurance, and for an expired vehicle registration over two months.

• A deputy, dispatched to a reported trespassing in the San Juan Island area, made contact and took a report.

• A Lopez deputy made a traffic stop for speeding and discovered the driver had a suspended license. A criminal citation was issued.

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of an assault and documented the incident.

Dec. 31

• A Lopez Island deputy investigated a residential burglar alarm. The home was found to be secure with no sign of any attempted entry.

• A deputy took a report of an apparent domestic dispute on Orcas Island. The reporting party was off island and wished to report the incident. It does not appear at this point that a crime occurred but an informational report was taken.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at stop sign and an expired registration. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and issued a citation for expired registration, no insurance, no driver license on person, no registration and failure to stop at a stop sign.

• A Lopez Island deputy contacted a subject in the 2800 block of Fisherman Bay Road after he saw him walking with an opened container of beer. The subject was issued a criminal citation for minor in possession of alcohol and released with a future hearing date in Friday Harbor.

• A driver on Lopez Island received a warning for speeding and for failing to notify the department of licensing of an address change.

• A Lopez man was arrested for driving under the influence following a single-vehicle collision.

Jan. 1 2019

• An Orcas Island deputy stopped a vehicle in the Eastsound area. The driver was later arrested for driving under the influence and cited for speeding. He also received a warning for expired registration and no proof of liability insurance.

• A Lopez Island deputy took a report from a concerned parent of suspicious activity involving children.

• A wanted person who needed to pay bail met with an Orcas deputy at the substation, received a receipt and signed a notice of their hearing date.
