The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Sept. 10
• A deputy on Lopez received a found wallet.
• A San Juan deputy located a wanted person at the end of Haven Road on Orcas Island. The man was taken into custody and booked into jail for two warrants.
• San Juan deputies responded to a report of threats involving messages on Facebook. The individual was not located, and the incident was documented.
Sept. 11
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a theft from a local store. The juvenile who was responsible for the theft was contacted, and one of the stolen items was recovered.
Sept. 12
• A deputy was dispatched to a welfare check in the Friday Harbor area. The person was located at the location, severely intoxicated. The person was transported to the emergency room for further care. A report was taken.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of shoplifting. A juvenile stole a tobacco item from a store; the incident was captured on video surveillance. They were released to their parent, and this matter will be forwarded to Juvenile Court Services.
• An Orcas Island deputy conducted a traffic stop for a driver who was speeding on Orcas Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speed, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license and not having an ignition interlock device.
Sept. 13
• A deputy was dispatched to a theft in the Friday Harbor area. The person was contacted and reported the theft of an item from their property overnight. A report was taken.
• Lopez deputies investigated an abandoned vehicle left partially in the roadway. The responsible person was located, and the vehicle was removed.
Sept. 14
• A deputy on Orcas Island conducted a death investigation. The death appeared to be by natural cause. The deputy authored a report.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to an unwanted person at a business in the Eastsound area. The person was trespassed from the business, and the incident was documented.
• The Sheriff’s Office issued infractions to three vehicles parked along Marguerite Place in Friday Harbor that were advertised for sale. The vehicles were also posted with 72-hour tow notices.
• More lost property was turned into the Sheriff’s Office, which was entered into evidence.
• The Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident. The incident was investigated, and the parties separated for the night.
Sept. 15
• A deputy on Orcas Island conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a notice of infraction for speeding, 30 mph in a 20 mph zone, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid operator’s license.
• A deputy on Orcas Island conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a notice of infraction for expired registration more than two months, and no proof of insurance.
• Deputies on San Juan, along with San Juan EMS and Fire, responded to a motorcycle accident on Beaverton Valley Road. The motorcycle operator attempted to miss a deer crossing the road and wrecked. The motorcycle operator was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. A report was completed.
Sept. 16
• The Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a collision. A driver in the early morning hours went off the roadway and crashed into a fence and landscaping. The driver was later identified and issued infractions for no insurance and no valid driver’s license.
• A deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of an erratic driver on Cattle Point Road. The deputy located the driver still in their vehicle, in their driveway. The driver was taken into custody and booked into jail for driving under the influence.
