The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

April 26

A Lopez deputy responded to a residential burglary complaint. The victim stated the perpetrator entered her house at night, without permission, while she was sleeping. The male subject fled on foot after the homeowner awoke and called out for him to leave.

• An Orcas driver was stopped for not wearing a seat belt and having a cracked windshield. The driver was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.

• A deputy performed a welfare check at a residence on San Juan Island. The person at that residence was found to be unable to take care of herself. Adult Protective Services was contacted and she was taken out of the house for health reasons.

• A Blakely Island resident reported a residential burglary and the theft of wine.

• A deputy was assigned to a welfare check in Eastsound. The allegedly missing person was located and recorded as being fine.

April 27

• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a driver passing a stopped school bus with its stop sign out. The driver was not identified.

• An Orcas driver was stopped for expired vehicle registration. The driver also did not have proof of auto insurance and was cited.

• Orcas deputies and Orcas Fire and Rescue responded to an Eastsound address regarding an overdose of medication. The person was treated for medical attention and was transported to the hospital.

• The sheriff’s office was contacted by a Washington State ferry employee regarding unattended items left at the ferry terminal. The items were searched and brought to the station for safekeeping.

• A deputy was dispatched to an Eastsound residence for a death investigation. The coroner and a supervisor were notified. There were no signs of foul play.

• A citizen contacted the sheriff’s office to report being harassed and threatened at her residence and on social media regarding a previous incident.

• A Lopez deputy stopped a motorist for having an obscured vehicle license plate and determined he had no driver’s license. The deputy issued the motorist a ticket for not having a valid operator’s license with an identification card. He gave the driver a verbal warning for the obscured plate.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a deer damaging a moving vehicle on Ferry Road. No one was injured.

April 28

• A deputy was dispatched to a domestic assault in Friday Harbor. The suspect was taken into custody for assault in the fourth degree and domestic violence.

• A deputy was dispatched to the San Juan Island area in reference to a fraud. The caller was contacted and advised that a local business had taken a fake $10 bill.

• Lopez deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance between a homeowner and her guests. No probable cause for a crime was found and the guests were given a courtesy ride to the ferry.

• A deputy conducted a traffic stop near Eastsound. The driver was given a citation for not wearing a seatbelt.

April 29

• A deputy was dispatched to a domestic dispute in the Friday Harbor area that turned out to be a loud party. Those involved promised to quiet down.

• A Lopez Island deputy was called regarding a herd of about 50 sheep on a roadway. The owner of the sheep was contacted, and the sheep were returned to their pasture.

• A Lopez Island man reported receiving harassing notes from a neighbor. Upon examination, there was no evidence of any criminal activity or intent.

• A deputy responded to Moran State Park regarding a non-injury traffic collision.

• A deputy contacted the sheriff’s office in reference to an order violation which occurred in the Friday Harbor area.

• A Seattle man reported that his backpack and other property had been taken from his campsite at Odlin Park while he participated in the Tour de Lopez cycling event on Lopez. A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

• Lopez deputies responded to a report of stolen property. Deputies talked with the victims, who had been camping on the island. A backpack had been taken from their tent while they were out biking around the island.

• Lopez deputies were dispatched to a local woman’s residence for a possible telephone harassment call. The suspect was contacted and asked to stop calling the woman’s home.

April 30

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a vehicle parked in the roadway in front of someone’s residence. The investigation showed that the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested for DUI.

• A deputy was dispatched to the San Juan Island area in reference to a traffic accident. The reporting deputy arrived and located a vehicle off the roadway.

• A deputy responded to an animal at large in the San Juan Island area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the caller. The caller found a dog on his property. The owner arrived and picked up the dog.

• A Friday Harbor business called regarding a disgruntled former employee. The caller stated the employee was causing a scene and requested the sheriff’s office respond to assist with removing the subject.

• A Friday Harbor deputy was contacted regarding a breach of information at a local business.

• A minor was contacted at the Warbass Marina parking lot on San Juan Island. He was in his truck and arrested for possession and use of marijuana/THC oil. He was cited, given a court date and released. The marijuana and paraphernalia were seized as evidence.

• A vehicle was stopped for having no taillights and expired registration on Orcas. The driver did not have license or proof of insurance and was cited.

May 2

• A Lopez man reported identity theft that resulted in unauthorized bank transactions. A report was taken and the case is under investigation.

• An Orcas driver was stopped for not wearing a seat belt and cited.

• A deputy called an Eastsound resident about six or seven unknown subjects stealing about $100 in oysters from a private shellfish bed he owns.

• A Lopez man requested a subject be removed from his place of employment. The caller alleged the subject’s behavior was inappropriate and disruptive.

• A deputy responded to a dog running at large in Eastsound. The dog’s owner was located and issued a warning letter.

• A Friday Harbor port security guard contacted the sheriff’s office to report a trespassing person on one of their properties. The subject was located and instructed to not return to the properties.

• A deputy located a Friday Harbor resident with a felony bench warrant. The subject was arrested and transported to the station to be processed.
