The San Juan Island School Board will host a reception celebration for Sharon Sandwith and Donna Smith, who concluded their employment in the district’s food service program late this summer.

The reception is Sept. 24, 4:30 p.m., in the Friday Harbor High School Library.

Sandwith served in the district’s food service program as a cook and food service coordinator for 24 years. Smith served the program as a cook for the past 11 years.

“The board will recognize their years of service and contribution to the health and nutrition of thousands of San Juan Island students,” Superintendent Michael Soltman said. “All families and students, past and present, are encouraged to attend. Please bring stories, cards, and hugs.”
