The Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

Feb. 3

• A deputy stopped a vehicle in the Park Street School zone for speeding. An infraction was issued for speeding.

• A Lopez deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding in the posted 25 miles per hour zone on Fisherman Bay Road. Driver was issued an infraction for speeding 40 miles per hour  in the posted 25 miles per hour zone

• At 2:35 p.m. a deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a theft. This case in still under investigation.

Feb. 4

• At approximately 12:53 a.m., the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a traffic accident on Roche Harbor Road in the area of Terrace Drive on San Juan Island. A deputy arrived and found the driver had made her way out of the vehicle and was covered in mud.

• A deputy responded to a report of vehicle almost colliding with an Eastsound business employee. The possible suspect was located and denied involvement. Settled by contact.

• A deputy stopped a vehicle on Roche Harbor Road because the driver was not wearing the safety belt and the vehicle registration was expired for over a year. An infraction was issued for both violations.

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding 38 miles per hour in the posted 25 miles per hour zone in the area of the 500 block of Roche Harbor Road. A speed infraction was issued.

Feb. 5

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding 35 miles per hour in the posted 25 miles per hour zone in the area of the 8400 block of Cattle Point Road. A speed infraction was issued.

• A deputy responded to an Eastsound business regarding an employee who assaulted their employer. After further investigation the incident was settled by contact.

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Friday Harbor, because the driver was not wearing his safety belt.  The driver was subsequently arrested on a felony warrant out of California for assault. Driver was booked into jail.

Feb. 6

• A deputy was dispatched to a hit and run accident with no injuries in the 10 block of North Beach Road, Eastsound. An unknown full size tan pick up drove off. A report was requested for insurance purposes.

• A driver hit a ferry worker on the Yakima at the Anacortes ferry terminal. The report was forwarded to Skagit County for further action.

Feb. 7

• Deputies responded to a 911 call of a forced entry burglary in progress. The reporting party was assaulted by the suspect and was struck on the head with a frying pan. Deputies arrived and arrested the suspect, still on the scene. The victim was treated and released.

• A Friday Harbor resident returned from an off island trip to find the truck he had parked on Warbass Way was missing, presumed stolen. The owner has no suspects in mind. A WSP stolen report was filed and deputies will continue to watch for the truck.

• Deputies in Friday Harbor received a report of a domestic.  The investigation showed that no assault took place.

• A deputy in Friday harbor received a report of a vehicle prowl. The victim reported two wallets and a handgun stolen from his vehicle that had been parked in his driveway. This case is still under investigation.

• Deputies in Friday Harbor received a report of a domestic. The investigation showed that it was just a verbal argument between a couple.

Feb. 8

• A Lopez deputy took a report of mail theft. The victim reported a package and letters valued at $10-15 missing. No suspect information.

• A San Juan County Sheriff Deputy took a report of a theft of a small patio table on Orcas Island.  There are no known suspects or leads at this time.

Feb. 9

• A deputy met the reporting person at the Orcas sub-station in regards to threats that occurred. A report was taken.

• Driver, cited for DWLS third and violation of ignition interlock in Friday Harbor.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a vehicle that was swerving on the roadway. The driver was contacted and this matter was referred to the Department of Licensing for a drivers license re-exam.

• A Friday Harbor resident reported being assaulted and harassed by his former domestic partner. The harassment has been occurring for approximately two weeks and the assault occurred in the Friday Harbor area. Ongoing investigation.
