San Juan County Public Hospital District 1 to discuss more property offers on June 28

Staff report

The San Juan County Public Hospital District 1 Board will meet at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 28 at the Frank Wilson Memorial EMS building, at 1079 Spring St.

The board will go into executive session to discuss new offers on the district’s property on Spring Street and make a decision in the public session.

An offer on the property, which houses the shuttered Inter Island Medical Center, was recently withdrawn after it was accepted by the San Juan County Hospital District 1 Board on June 11.

The roughly 1 acre of land on Spring Street belongs to the hospital district as it previously housed a local medical facility that operated before San Juan Island’s hospital opened in 2012.

According to Windermere’s Bill Giesy, who is handling the sale, the property has had about four offers, which were later withdrawn due to changed plans or lack of funding, over the five years its been on the market.
