Salish Sea Music Fest: Bach, Bach, and more Bach

The baroque orchestra “Simphonie Nouvelle” will present an evening of concerti on period instruments at the Grange Hall in Friday Harbor, Sunday Feb. 23.

The baroque orchestra “Simphonie Nouvelle” will present an evening of concerti on period instruments at the Grange Hall in Friday Harbor, Sunday Feb. 23, including flute and harpsichord concerti by “CPE” Bach and both the B Minor Suite and the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach, in the Salish Sea Early Music Festival’s commemoration of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s 300th birthday, which will be celebrated widely in Europe this year.

The program promises to be big and exciting, featuring many more musicians than usual and includes: Johann Sebastian Bach, Suite in B Minor (flute and strings); Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Harpsichord Concerto in D Minor, Wq. 17; Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Flute Concerto in D Minor, Wq. 22; Johann Sebastian Bach, Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 (solo harpsichord, flute and violin with strings).
