Washington Gubernatorial candidate Bill Bryant brought his campaign to Friday Harbor on July 12. The Republican candidate spent time with four groups of islanders, including a public meet and greet and an invitation only major donor event. Bryant even hit the streets of Friday Harbor to talk to local business owners.

“Mr. Byrant’s strategy of growing business and jobs appealed to business owners that he spoke with while walking the streets of Friday Harbor,” said Michelle Loftus, San Juan Island Republican Party member.

Bryant is aware of the unique transportation issues islanders face, according to Loftus.

“He purposefully rode the ferry to and from San Juan Island, sharing the experience and dependence islanders know,” said Loftus.

The publicly advertised meet and greet was held at Cask and Schooner restaurant and brought in many islanders not only looking to support their candidate but to learn more about his views, experience and policies. Bryant answered local’s questions and involved himself in discussions with the public.

Friday Harbor was only one of many small towns the campaign trail will take Bryant. According to his website he will be traveling the state stopping at places like Port Angeles, Marysville and Oak Harbor over the next few months.

“He enjoyed a most beautiful day in San Juan County,” said Loftus.
