‘Remember My Name’ vigil honors victims of domestic violence

Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Services will host a "Remember My Name" vigil on the County Courthouse lawn, Wednesday, Oct. 12, in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the month of October. The event begins at noon.

Domestic violence is far from a thing of the past. Sadly, it remains pervasive and its consequences are often tragic, and sometimes fatal.

Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Services will host a “Remember My Name” vigil on the County Courthouse lawn, Wednesday, Oct. 12, in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the month of October. The event begins at noon.

The vigil features an array of silhouettes that honor residents of Washington state that lost their lives to domestic abuse in 2013, and that display each victim’s story.

As part of the lunch-hour vigil, people can walk among the silhouettes and place flowers donated by New Day Garden at the displays in memory of the victims.
