Doris Gilbreath wore a one of her many presents — a tiara — with pride as friends and family helped the San Juan Island resident celebrate birthday No. 95, April 16, with a festive lunch at Downriggers restaurant.

Born and raised in Nampa, Idaho, among the sagebrush of the town of Deer Flat, Gilbreath moved to San Juan some 53 years ago and put her roots down deep.

In the restaurant at Gilbreath’s birthday lunch were her daughter, her granddaughter, her great granddaughter, and, a great great grandson whose arrival is expected anytime very soon.
