Preservation Trust $20,000 shy of $4.2 million goal

The San Juan Preservation Trust received an anonymous gift of $285,000 for the Campaign for Mount Grant Preserve bringing them to just $20,000 shy of their $4.2 million goal.

The 141-acre property provides native plant and animal habitat, old-growth Douglas firs, wildflower meadows and walking trails. From the top, one is rewarded with spectacular 360-degree views including Mount Baker and the Cascade Range, San Juan Valley and Lopez Island, and north to the Canadian Gulf Islands.

The Trust, in partnership with the San Juan County Land Bank and the local island community, are working to permanently protect this special property.

As soon as the fundraising is complete, planning can begin to develop permanent trails, parking and other improvements.
