Presentation to shed light on ‘Obamacare’, changes and options in insurance coverage, and in healthcare

In prelude to the upcoming enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act, Nov. 15, Larry Thompson of the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement will discuss changes in quality of care, explain the ACA's impact on healthcare costs and highlight changes under way in the medical care industry, as part of a presentation, Oct. 29, in Friday Harbor.

That’s the date that Larry Thompson of the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement will in Friday Harbor to lead a presentation entitled “Four Years and Counting—What Has Been the Impact of the Affordable Care Act?”

Sponsored by the San Juan County Democrats, the program, Wednesday, Oct. 29, begins at 7 p.m., at Skagit Valley College San Juan Center.

Executive director of the Bellingham-based Health Alliance, Thompson has been a CEO of several health care organizations, an academic and been involved in heath policy development in Washington state during a 40-year career in the healthcare field.

Under Thompson’s direction, WAHA led the recent enrollment program in the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, in San Juan and four neighboring Puget Sound counties.

As part of the presentation, Thompson will assess enrollment in health insurance, discuss changes in quality of care, explain the ACA’s impact on the cost of healthcare and highlight a range of changes under way in the medical care industry.

Enrollment in the Affordable Care Act begins Nov. 15.
