Presentation: Making Change at Walmart

Find out why laborers, religious leaders and elected officials are joining together in an effort to improve pay and working conditions at the world's largest retailer, Walmart, Sunday, July 29, in a presentation at San Juan Island Library.

As part of a national and local effort to improve pay and working conditions at Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, two Walmart employees from Skagit County, both of whom earn hourly wages, will join veteran labor organizer Andrea Dehlendorf to explain and answer questions about labor movement known as “Making Change at Walmart”, Sunday, July 29, at San Juan Island Library, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Making Change at Walmart” is a coalition anchored by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union that includes Walmart associates, union members, small business owners, elected and religious leaders and community organizations, according to the program announcement.

Sponsored by the San Juan County Democratic Central Committee, the presentation is open to all islanders. The program includes a question and answer session.
