PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center was recognized this week with the 2016 QUEST ® Award for High-value Healthcare from Premier Inc., a leading nationwide health care improvement company, for providing outstanding patient care. The medical center was honored at Premier’s annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition on June 21.
Only 38 QUEST member hospitals received a Citation of Merit for achieving top performance in any four of the following six areas measured in Premier’s QUEST collaborative: cost and efficiency, inpatient and outpatient evidence-based care, mortality, safety, patient experience and appropriate hospital use.
Of all health care organizations eligible for the Quest Award, Peace Island ranked No. 1 for lowest mortality rate. The medical center is in the 95 th percentile for safety and in the 86th for re-admissions or appropriate hospital use.
QUEST was launched in 2008 to help health systems reliably deliver the most efficient, effective and caring experience for every patient, every single time. Approximately 350 health systems volunteered to transparently share data and define a common framework with consistent measures that would continually set a top performance goal for both participants and the nation. QUEST participants have prevented more than 176,000 deaths, reduced health care spending by more than $15 billion, and improved readmission rates by 32 percent.

Two other PeaceHealth Medical Centers also were recognized with the QUEST Award for High-Value Healthcare: PeaceHealth Peace Harbor in Florence, Ore. and PeaceHealth Cottage Grove in Cottage Grove, Ore.
