Orca Relief hosts Emmy-nominated investigative film: “Orcas: Are We Loving Them to Death?”

Orca Relief Citizens’ Alliance will host a public viewing of “Orcas: Are We Loving Them to Death?”, an Emmy-nominated investigative film, Thursday, April 26.

After several major crashes in the local killer whale population, the KCPQ TV News team went undercover to uncover the causes behind increased Orca deaths. The result, according to Mark Andersen, Orca Relief chairman, is “The best film made to date on the daily experiences of our local whales.”

The event begins at 7 p.m., at the Sea Shepherd Gallery and educational center, 155 Nichols St. Seating is limited, advance tickets are available at 378-8628 or by email, at info@orcarelief.org.

Tickets are $15 for the film and following discussion;  “premium” tickets, which include a reception, are $50.

The film will be presented by Pam Pearson, vice president and general manager of KCPQ Television. Premium tickets holders can meet and mingle with Pearson and Orca Relief staff at a reception following the film and discussion.

Event proceeds benefit Orca Relief, a non-profit organization whose mission is reducing Orca death rates.
