The Friends of the San Juan Island Library will be celebration National Friends of Libraries Week, Oct. 16-22, with two special events. Also they will be kicking off their 2017 membership drive with a silent auction item, a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Griffin Bay bookstore and a book bag. All memberships received between Oct. 16th and Dec. 10 will be available for the drawing for the prize.

The first event will take place on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. We will be hosting a “Taste of India” event with local chef, Sandhya. Come and hear about India’s rich food history and culinary origins. There will be Indian food to sample and drink for refreshments and recipes to take home.

The second event will be our 2nd annual Edible Book Festival on Saturday, Oct. 22. Entry forms are available at the Treasure Cove or library desk. Edible Book entries can be savory or sweet. Think of a book you like, and make a cake or a savory item to show the name of the book, or a twist on the title. For example, To “Grill” a Mockingbird. You can enter

as and individual or as a group. There are prizes awarded for 10 different categories. Stop in and view the entries and after the judging we will enjoy eating the books. Coffee and tea will be provided. The Friends appreciate all your support to the San Juan Island Library.
