A San Juan Island man who had been missing for about a week was located in an Anacortes motel Thursday, April 16, by members of his family, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s department.

Undersheriff Brent Johnson said in a press release that John Roberson is being cared for by his family.

A longtime islander and Friday Harbor High School graduate, Roberson was reported as a missing person earlier in the week after members of his family had been unable to contact him for several days. He reportedly had not been heard from since April 9, his vehicle was not at his home and family members were unaware of any travel plans and unsure of his whereabouts.

Johnson said that a large number of federal and state agency’s had been notified about Roberson’s disappearance and had been working together to help locate him.
