During the regular Town meeting on May 15, Mayor Raymond Jackson will be reading a proclamation declaring May 2025 as Mental Health Awareness Month, and it will be presented to a Compass Health representative.

The proclamation reads as follows:

WHEREAS, mental health is essential to overall well-being, and affects every aspect of our lives — from how we think and feel to how we act, relate to others, and handle stress; and

WHEREAS, millions of individuals and families across our communities are impacted by mental health conditions, which know no boundaries; and

WHEREAS, stigma surrounding mental health remains a barrier that prevents many people from seeking the help they need and deserve; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the importance of raising awareness, increasing access to care and supporting the mental wellness of all people through education, open dialogue and community action; and

WHEREAS, Mental Health Awareness Month serves as a crucial reminder that no one is alone, that help is available and that together, we can create a culture of compassion, understanding and support;

WHEREAS, Mental Health Month celebrates the resilience and strength of individuals living with mental illness, recognizing their courage, determination and achievements in overcoming obstacles, seeking help and embracing hope and healing; and

WHEREAS, Mental Health Month serves as a call to action for individuals, communities and policymakers to prioritize mental health and well-being, invest in prevention, early intervention and support services, and work together to create a more inclusive, compassionate and supportive society;

NOW THEREFORE I, Raymont C. Jackson, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor, do hereby proclaim May 2025 as

Mental Health Awareness Month

FURTHER, I urge citizens to connect with one another and offer support to those in need. By seeking appropriate assistance together, we can collaboratively build a stronger and healthier future for all.
