Local graduates from Wheaton College

Claire Crawbuck, a resident of Friday Harbor, was one of 399 members of the Class of 2016 to earn degrees from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. on May 21, during the college's 181st Commencement ceremony. Crawbuck graduated with a bachelor of arts in Environmental Science. She is the daughter of Kenneth Crawbuck and Laura Norris.

Crawbuck graduated with a bachelor of arts in Environmental Science. She is the daughter of Kenneth Crawbuck and Laura Norris.

Wheaton is a highly selective liberal arts college located in Norton, Mass., with a 1,600-member student body drawn from 39 states and 72 countries. Recent graduates enjoy a 97 percent success rate in landing first jobs, enrolling in graduate programs and engaging in public service, according to studies of the Classes of 2014 and 2015 six months after graduation.

Since 2000, 210 Wheaton students have won national scholarships and fellowships such as the Rhodes, Fulbright and Watson. For more than a decade, the college has ranked among the nation’s top 10 Fulbright-producing baccalaureate institutions.
