SJI Public Hospital District regular meeting of July 23
PHD Superintendent Nathan Butler reported that the transition continues with integrating the Community Paramedicine Program and the Village at Home program. There is a new Community Paramedicine employee who will help with the transition. The Village at the Harbor is replacing a failed freezer and modifying the doors to the courtyard to be more accessible.
Village at Home Director Evan Perrollaz commended caregiver Terry Forsyth for his quick action and CPR on a home patient before emergency medical services arrived. The Village at Home has been approved for Medicaid, but final details are still pending, given the difficulty in contacting appropriate Medicaid administrators.
The commissioners tabled action on the revised 2025 budget until August.
The commissioners passed a resolution authorizing a levy lid lift proposition for the Nov. 4 General Election. The proposal raises the current $0.50 per $1,000 assessed value to $0.71. The PHD administration identified three areas that needed increased funding: Medicaid, long-term housing for health care workers and the Village at Home/Community Paramedicine Program. They will prepare a press release and make details available on the PHD website.
