Knowledge Bowl is Feb. 5 at San Juan Community Theater

The 16th annual Knowledge Bowl is Feb. 5, 7 p.m. in the San Juan Community Theatre. The event is presented by the San Juan Public Schools Foundation. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Middle- and high-school teams will take on teams from the Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and Soroptimist clubs in answering questions on such topics as history, literature, politics, math and science.

Competitors will dress in costumes to add flair and fun to the event. Prizes will be awarded to the most festively attired team.

Arrive early to hear the Friday Harbor Jazz Band, at 6:40 p.m. The Friday Harbor High School PTA will have a bake sale. The event will be emceed by Friday Harbor High School teacher Marc Vermeire.

Soroptimists Club: Nancy DeVaux, Robin Jacobson, Kathy Moss, Debbie Staehlin.

Each year, the San Juan Public Schools Foundation raises money to support local public schools. Tax-deductible donations help purchase curriculum materials, pay for teacher training and support special programs.

Last year, the foundation aided the Save Our Schools Campaign, which raised $537,648 to help erase a budget funding shortfall.
