Has the town got a good deal for you; 23 items — vehicles, equipment and miscellaneous stuff — declared surplus

Hey, want a good deal on a 1984 GMC tanker truck with a 2,000-gallon tank? How about a Cushman electric truck with a battery pack? Or perhaps you've been looking for a 5-horsepower Ingersoll-Rand air compressor. Or a 10-foot Livingston skiff. (Collect memorabilia from historic events? Here's your chance to own five town centennial banners). The Friday Harbor Town Council on Thursday declared 23 items — vehicles, equipment and miscellaneous stuff — as surplus. Hey, want a good deal on a 1984 GMC tanker truck with a 2,000-gallon tank? How about a Cushman electric truck with a battery pack?

Or perhaps you’ve been looking for a 5-horsepower Ingersoll-Rand air compressor. Or a 10-foot Livingston skiff. (Collect memorabilia from historic events? Here’s your chance to own five town centennial banners).

The Friday Harbor Town Council on Thursday declared 23 items — vehicles, equipment and miscellaneous stuff — as surplus. The items can now be offered for sale to the public. Town Treasurer Wendy Picinich said the proceeds will go into the town’s equipment reserve fund.

Sometime within the next two weeks, the items will be on display for the public to review. Submit a sealed bid to the town Public Works Department, and when bidding closes in two weeks the bids will be opened and … well, you could be the new owner of a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria. (Give the kids a thrill and bid on the 1987 FMC Spartan fire truck, with 1,000-gallon tank).

Public Works Director Mike Wilks said most of the staging will be done on Port of Friday Harbor property on Spring Street, near The Office Center, 747 Spring St. Look for the legal advertisement to be published in The Journal of the San Juan Islands and on SanJuanJournal.com.

Wilks said the vehicles to be auctioned off are all in running condition. “They all run. We won’t offer any guarantees. Some run better than others,” he said.
