Dump truck topples under lopsided load

An uneven load of "beauty bark" caused a dump truck to topple over and land in a ditch in the 1000 block of Orcas Road early Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported, and fire fighters and employees from two island towing companies teamed up to get the truck righted and back on the road.

A shifting and weighty load is being blamed for a delivery mishap in which a dump truck carrying so-called “beauty bark” toppled over in the 1000 block of Orcas Road shortly before 1 p.m.

Fire fighters responded to the scene and assisted in righting the disabled truck and getting it back on the road with the help of workers from two Orcas towing companies. The driver of the dump truck, which belongs to San Juan Sanitation, escaped the mishap without injury.
