Community Foundation distributes $155K in scholarships

Awards recently announced by the Community Foundation include scholarships for former and for recent graduates of San Juan Island high schools.

The San Juan Island Community Foundation distributed more than $155,000 in scholarships and financial awards for the 2013/2014 academic year.

Awards recently announced by the Community Foundation include scholarships for former and for recent graduates of San Juan Island high schools. Awards were granted to former San Juan students currently enrolled in college, high school student graduating this year and to individuals pursuing career training.

Scholarships managed and awarded by the Foundation include the Inskeep Scholarship, created by the late Jerry Inskeep to provide a path to higher learning for academically gifted students that otherwise might not be able to afford college, John Volk Memorial Scholarship (aeronautics), Career Scholarship Fund (career training) and General Scholarship Fund.
