Canvassing Board Meeting

Submitted by San Juan County

The San Juan County Canvassing Board will hold a special meeting to review and adopt its manual for the county.

The canvassing board provides oversight of elections in the county. Its duties include canvassing ballots, ruling on the validity of questioned or challenged ballots, verifying all unofficial returns and producing the official county canvass report. The board is comprised of the county auditor, prosecuting attorney and chair of the county council.

The canvassing board manual is the administrative rules for guiding and governing the county’s election process. The manual is adopted and updated as needed in public meetings. As with meetings of the county council, all canvassing board meetings are open to the public.

The meeting will convene on June 4 at 8:15 a.m. in the San Juan County Elections office at 55 2 St., Suite A, in Friday Harbor. If necessary, the board may reconvene at 3 p.m. on June 4 in the same location.
