Boat runs aground near Blakely, 31 people evacuated

Thirty-one people were evacuated from the 61-foot sailboat Carlyn today after it ran aground near Blakely Island.

The Carlyn ran aground with 31 people aboard, including 25 passengers and six crew members, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.

A 41-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle was dispatched to the scene in order to assess the incident. Rescuers successfully evacuated the passengers and transported them to the nearest safe haven.

There were no reports of pollution or injuries.
