The route for the Homecoming Parade changed this year. Students put the finishing touches on their floats at the Fairgrounds, and at 3 p.m. proceeded down Argyle, Spring Street and back up Second Street to return to the High School. Crowds lined up along the sidewalks, especially around the movie theater where the classes performed a dance in front of judges.
Each class chose a movie as a theme. Freshmen opted for the ‘Titanic,” and decorated their float as the infamous ship. They danced to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.” Sophmores were “Men in Black,” and had green aliens amongs the black suited agents. Juniors depicted the tropical paradise of “Rio,” with parrots and palm trees. Seniors were ‘The Lorax.” The Onceler stood on the float holding his ax while the Lorax stood nearby, ready to speak for the trees.
With their colorful costumes and dance, the juniors took home the prize.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday Harbor Wolverines Home Coming game kicked off against the Coupeville Wolves. The Wolverines won 28 to 14.
