May 18 was the day of the Soroptimists’ annual fundraiser: A-May-Zing at Roche Harbor Resorts’ Pavilion. We enjoyed a sold-out crowd of 120 guests, with only a few empty seats of guests needed to cancel at the last minute. The courtyard was a perfect setting during a beautiful sunny afternoon for the cocktail hour. Guests visited and enjoyed guitar music by Alex MacKnight as well as drinks and passed appetizers. The guests transitioned to the Pavilion to be treated to a beautifully decorated dining room, a silent auction and a display of descriptions of the live auction. Music curated by Heather Spaulding was played over the sound system supplied by Rick Frazer, while guests milled about and looked at auction items. A buffet dinner was followed by a cupcake dessert created by Felicity. Fifty-eight guests participated in a fun Heads or Tails game with the winner receiving a generous gift certificate to Duck Soup. The silent and live auctions were exciting with fabulous items including trips to Mexico, Hawaii and Tuscany. It was a perfect evening with funds going to support our major programs of: Scholarships and Awards, Food Security, Cancer Treatment Transportation and the Women’s Emergency Fund. Thank you, Friday Harbor for supporting Soroptimists. You continue to make a difference in our community. Together we can accomplish A-May-Zing things.
