San Juan Island Library is rolling out the glitter, lace, and pastel bowties for a totally rad evening of nostalgia at its upcoming “Prom Night: Take Me Back to ‘85.”

Open to adults, this lighthearted community event celebrates the joy, whimsy and unforgettable style of the 1980s — with no need to relive the awkward parts.

Attendees will enjoy an upbeat ‘80s playlist, a photo area complete with retro props and refreshments inspired by classic punch-bowl parties. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their best ‘80s-inspired looks — from ruffles and sparkle to neon charm — and can vote for this year’s “Prom Royalty,” awarded to the most iconic outfits of the night.

The event is free, but registration is required. Each attendee must register individually to reserve their spot. It will take place on Friday, Dec. 19, from 8-10 p.m. at the San Juan Island Library.
