Scarecrow contest returns!

Submitted by the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce.

Come celebrate fall and participate in the sixth annual Scarecrow Contest! This year, we are again expanding the contest to the town of Friday Harbor neighborhoods as well! It’s a fantastic opportunity for town residents and businesses to showcase their creativity while celebrating the season. Plus, decorating the town and neighborhoods for trick-or-treating adds an extra layer of excitement.

Scarecrow registration begins now! Please get your registration forms back to the chamber by Oct. 18 so we can create the map for all the voters! The registration forms and FAQs for the scarecrows are available online at www.sanjuanisland.org/scarecrow-contest. Or send an email to becki@sanjuanisland.org, and we will email you one.

The setup for the scarecrows is between Oct. 13-18 and is to be displayed around town businesses and town neighborhoods. We will have a residential category and a business category for voting.

Once all the scarecrows are registered and in place, the maps and ballots will be available to download at www.sanjuanisland.org/scarecrow-contest or at the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce after Oct. 22. There will be community judging between Oct. 22-29. Winners will be awarded on Oct. 30. If there are any questions, please contact the Scarecrow hotline at becki@sanjuanisland.org.

Sponsored by the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Library.
