San Juan Island Library offers free access to The Whale Museum’s Salish Sea Explorer Kit

Submitted by the San Juan Island Library.

The San Juan Island Library is excited to announce a new partnership with The Whale Museum to offer patrons free access to the Salish Sea Explorer Kit Pass. The Salish Sea Explorer Pass is joining our Library of Things, along with our passes to The Whale Museum, The San Juan Island Museum of Art and the San Juan Island Historical Museum.

This special pass allows library patrons to check out one of The Whale Museum’s Salish Sea Explorer Kits at no cost. These portable, museum-quality collections are designed for teachers, parents and anyone eager to bring marine science learning to life. Ideal for youth of all ages — from preschool through high school — the kits offer an interactive, hands-on way to explore the wonders of the Salish Sea and its marine inhabitants.

Each kit includes specimens, lesson plans, activities and educational resources that can be used to complement classroom curriculum or stand alone as an engaging learning experience. Themes include “Diving into Cetaceans,” “Flipping Out with Pinnipeds,” and “Schooling with Salmon.” Whether you’re enhancing an educational program with The Whale Museum or simply exploring marine life from home or in the classroom, these kits provide a unique opportunity to inspire curiosity and stewardship for our local ecosystem.
