The Planning Commission is a group of citizen volunteers appointed by the County Council who make recommendations on planning-related matters including the Comprehensive Plan and Development Code. Workshops and public hearings of the Planning Commission are important public forums where public opinion and advice become part of the County’s records and decision-making process.

Meetings are typically held once per month on the third Friday of the month in the morning, but occasionally special meetings may be called to address topics of a specific nature or maintain schedules for large projects. Regular attendance is important as is a willingness to participate collaboratively with the public and staff. To apply, please send an email to for a volunteer application.
