Many are familiar with albinoism, a condition causing a lack of pigmenation, they may be less familiar with leucistic, meaning there is some color. Islander Jeff Sheplor was lucky enough to see a leucistic rufous hummingbird, which usually has a rusty-colored back and a ruby head or throat, feeding amongst his flowers on July 13, and captured the bird on camera.
“It came back the next day, but I have not seen it since,” Sheplor told the Journal.
