“What matters most to me”

Manya Pickard

What matters to me is to have a meaningful life. It’s so important to me to know who I am and who I am with, to have loving friends and family, be close to the earth, and to be continually learning from my experiences.

My creative and artistic life is an important source of my happiness. I have been creating jewelry as a means of living for most of my life. My business has connected me with people all over the world who find beauty and meaning in my work and is an important outlet for creativity.

Around 2017, I became a Buddhist. The teachings of the Buddha, or dharma, have become the center of my life. My intention is to become more conscious and a better person.

I am hoping I will never lose my cognitive abilities, and to always maintain my independence. I am hoping that when it’s time for me to pass, I will do it easily and quickly.

Manya’s whole life was the canvas for her art. She ate, slept, dreamt and lived art. Though she had solitary tendencies, her friends, family, plants and animals were very important to her. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Join friends and family for a potluck to honor Manya Sept. 21 at p.m., 363 Jensen Bay Rd.
