At 10 a.m., May 6 at the Mullis Community Center, Marguerite Bennett and Fiona Norris will instruct a class to create hanging baskets for $35. Participants will assemble a 12-inch hanging container with growing medium, choice starter plants for sun or shade exposure and plenty of free advice. Bring your own gloves, tools, beverage, snack. Bring your own hanging container, or use the one provided. Plants are provided as well. Everyone will plant a basket, perhaps for Mother’s Day, to display at the fair. Families with aspiring gardeners are encouraged to participate. The first basket prepared by those under age 16 is free.
