Know Your Island Walk: Lime Kiln State Park

Submitted by the San Juan Island Trails Committee

We’re headed to Lime Kiln Point State Park this Saturday, July 26, for our monthly Know Your Island Walk featuring architectural and island historian Boyd C, Pratt.

Ever wondered how lime is made from limestone—or why our park is called Lime Kiln Point? Boyd will lead a guided walk through the site of the former San Juan Lime Company (later Cowell’s). Along the way, you’ll hear stories of economic booms and busts, dramatic landscape changes, contentious lawsuits, shipwrecks, and even a bloody murder.

The park is located at 1567 Westside Rd, Friday Harbor, Washington 98250 and requires a Discover Pass or day parking fee.
