Join the celebration

Hard work, passion, drills and skills, and, of course, teamwork. A lot of effort goes into getting it all just right. And it’s always exciting for our community when we see the inspiring results! But no, we’re not talking about football, basketball, volleyball or soccer.

We’re talking art.

The San Juan Island Sculpture Park is sponsoring a winter celebration of the wonderful art our high school seniors created under the guidance of Andy Anderson. The art opening, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m., will be brimming with holiday spirit as the elementary school choir, directed by Shannon Daskine, will regale us with songs for the season.

Twenty of our best and brightest have created a sculptural installation reflecting the holiday song we all know: “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Each student chose a day from the song and created a sculpture to represent their vision. Please join us at the Sculpture Park for the opening of this festive winter installation. Meet the student artists and enjoy seasonal songs by our beloved elementary school choir.

The “Twelve Days” sculptures will light up the park from Dec. 10 through the New Year, daily from 3-6 p.m., but the opening will be the event of the season, honoring our community’s talented young artists. Don’t forget to invite your holiday visitors to enjoy the “Twelve Days” exhibit as well as the other sculptures throughout this lovely 20-acre park.
