Fair fun

Rain and threats of rain did not stop people from turning out to get their fill of fair food, supporting 4-H kids, taking in some live music and catching up with neighbors and friends.

Kevin Roth’s giant robot at Trash for Treasures caught everyone’s attention from day one, and won multiple prizes.

Sunset, and her human Calvin Stucki, took home Grand Champion of the 44th annual Chicken Race.

There were many canine presentations in the dog tent, from a dog show on Friday morning to a talk about working with dogs and their sense of smell on Saturday.

Amongst all the goings on, approximately 30 people turned out Thursday afternoon to listen to historian Boyd Pratt speak about potatoes in the Historical Museum’s cabin. “Thirty people came out to hear about potatoes of all things,” Pratt told the Journal with a laugh.

The ever popular Fashion Trashion Show was coordinated and MC’d by Mason Turnage this year, as Francie Hansen went on vacation. While she was missed, Turnage had the crowd laughing and cheering for the contestants. Spoiler alert, they all won.

The San Juan Community Foundation helped raise funds for 30 non-profits with their San Juan Cares Campaign; more details on how much and toward what projects will be coming soon.
