High school juniors and seniors interested in the building trades or tile work are invited to join the EDC and masonry and tile professional Dave Koch for a four-week intensive tile setting class with a project. The class, Youth Introduction to Tile Setting, will take place on Saturdays in March, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 7, 14, 21 and 28.
Participants will learn about the tools and materials involved in tile setting. Each student will complete a project that includes surface preparation, measuring and layout with different formats. Students will measure and cut tile in both rectangular and diagonal configurations, as well as horizontal and vertical applications. The final project will be grouted, cleaned and critiqued.
This four-week course will be taught by Koch, a retired masonry contractor. He is an excellent instructor with over three decades of masonry and tile experience.
