‘Building Ecosystem Resilience with Native Plants.’ with Eliza Habegger

Submitted by the San Juan Island Grange.

Native plants are nature’s superheroes! Join botanist Eliza Habegger on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the San Juan Island Grange for “Building Ecosystem Resilience with Native Plants.” Habegger, who manages the Salish Seeds Project for the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank, will show how to grow wildflowers from seed, save your own seed and choose plants that help pollinators and wildlife.

Attendees will leave with a free packet of local wildflower seed — and plenty of inspiration to green their corner of the islands.

The event is free and open to everyone, with light snacks provided.

The Island Resilience Third Thursday Free Community Series is an ongoing program designed to build practical skills that help islanders thrive, especially during disruptions or emergencies.
