Submitted by Griffin Bay Bookstore

Award-winning photographer and author, Robert Dash, presents “Food, Planet Future” Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at Griffin Bay Bookstore. Dash is a science educator who uses a scanning electron microscope to highlight foods, pollen, seeds, and other objects with significant climate and biodiversity stories.

Dash’s new book, “Food Planet Future,” takes the reader on a remarkable visual tour of everyday foods and in the process, connects us more deeply to the world we help to shape. It draws upon art, research, and innovative practices to reimagine the tangled crises of food security, climate change, and biodiversity loss. Food Planet Future invokes awe and wonder and inspires action taken on our Earth’s behalf.

Dash will read from his book and present slides at Griffin Bay Bookstore free event. Copies of his book will be available for sale, and he will inscribe copies. Dash has exhibited at the San Juan Island Museum of art, and his work has been published in National Geographic, TIME, Lenswork, Geographical, and Resurgence/Ecologist. His recent book Food Planet Future: The Art of Turning Food and Climate Perils Into Possibilities (Papadakis, UK) won a Nautilus Book Award for Photography and Arts, and a Gourmand Book Award, Best in the World, Food Security.
