Friday Harbor High School is celebrating a major milestone: 35% of the senior class received admission offers from Western Washington University during WWU’s On-the-Spot Admissions event held at FHHS on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

This special event brought WWU admissions representatives directly to the FHHS campus, where they reviewed applications, met individually with students and provided immediate decisions. In addition, WWU eliminated application fees and waived the essay requirement, removing common barriers and making the process more accessible. For many seniors, this moment marked the first official step toward their post-secondary plans. As students face one of the most significant decisions of their young adult lives, gaining the assurance of a high-quality option for their next chapter offers tremendous relief and clarity.

“We are incredibly proud of our seniors’ preparation and perseverance,” said Principal Andrea Hillman. “For students navigating the complexity of post-secondary choices, opportunities like this provide both access and affirmation. We are deeply grateful to the WWU team for their partnership and for helping our students solidify a strong, high-quality pathway forward.”

FHHS looks forward to continuing strong partnerships with institutions like Western Washington University to reduce barriers and expand access and opportunity for all students.
