On behalf of the Friday Harbor Elementary School, we would like to thank you for buying pie at the San Juan County Fair and supporting the PTA! We sold 320 pies and netted almost $5,800!

Thank you to our maker/baker goddesses, Deb Nolan and Michelle Herko; Friday Harbor High School, for use of its kitchen; the staff at Friday Harbor Elementary School; Haley’s, for ordering the supplies for our booth; and all of our volunteers who made pies and worked the booth.

The Friday Harbor Elementary School PTA raises money throughout the year to subsidize enrichment programs, special assemblies and field trips, just to name a few. Last year, the bulk of our fundraising purchased new mats for our gym.

This year, our contributions will include helping to fund the continuation of Discovery Education Science, an award-winning elementary science curricula organized around an inquiry framework and covering Physical, Earth and Space, and Life Sciences. Discovery Education Science is designed to encourage exploration, stimulate critical thinking, and deepen understanding of science.

With budget cuts so affecting our school, the PTA plays a critical role as an additional funding source.
