What’s Marysville got to do with it? I-594 is bad legislation | Letters

The incident in question was done by a weapon that had been legally acquired through all the proper channels and had nothing to do with the so called "loophole". The problem here is not gun control, it is mental health.

This letter is in response to the one posted this morning on the issue of I-594 and the recent tragedy in Marysville.

With all due respect to the author of the letter, you really need to educate yourself a little more on the subject before you speak on such a sensitive subject.

The incident in question was done by a weapon that had been legally acquired through all the proper channels and had nothing to do with the so called “loophole”.

The problem here is not gun control, it is mental health.

Our nation is in the grip of the worst mental health crisis in the history of this planet. People are handed dangerous, unpredictable psychoactive drugs with little or no attempt to get to the bottom of their core issues.

The vast majority of these shootings are done with weapons that were 100 percent legally issued with the proper background checks and paperwork accompanying them.

This is about a lot more than simple background checks. This is all about a few elite billionaires attempting to buy your constitutional rights, criminalizing legal activities, and turning law abiding citizens into felons.

I-594 will do nothing to deter criminals. This is bad legislation.

Criminals will continue to break laws because, well… they’re criminals. Vote “No” on 594.
